‘the Dome’ provides a state of the art immersive digital media technology. It is the most advanced digital planetarium and cinema theatre on the Isle of Man With this innovative digital technology we aim to provide entertaining, educational and escapist experiences. A sensual exploration of art, science, ancestry, culture and the environment. Fulldome refers to immersive dome-based 360° video projection environments. ‘the Dome’ is filled with real-time computer animations or live capture movies.

EDUCATION

Classroom for ‘all-around’ educational experiences. Not just the usual Astronomy, but all the Sciences, Geology & Geography, History & Languages, Technology & Mathematics and Arts & Multimedia. The 360° School Dome is an innovative interactive education format, where the barrier between the screen an audience is broken and the class is transported to where the story is taking place. This happens because learning material is presented as an immersive 360° experience that is a shared and social, promoting deeper engagement with the subject and have a better understanding as a result.

PLANETARIUM

A theatre built primarily for presenting educational and entertaining shows about astronomy and the night sky, or for training in celestial navigation and Dark Sky research. ‘the Dome’ is everything a traditional planetarium can be with the very latest science and space shows.
